Descrição

July 1497. Lisbon, Portugal. 170 men step onto four massive ships,
aiming to do the impossible: find a direct sea route to Asia.
Their leader was Vasco da Gama.

They push out into the vast Atlantic, sailing completely out of sight
of land for three brutal months. They finally round the Cape of Good Hope and
make critical stops in Mozambique and Mombasa to rest and find a pilot
who knows the Indian Ocean.

But the journey is a living nightmare. Scurvy strikes the crew,
turning gums to rot. Deadly storms tear at the sails, and local skirmishes
leave them fighting for their lives. Over 100 men won't make it back alive.

But Da Gama refuses to turn back. Catching the monsoon winds across the ocean,
they finally spot land. On May 20, 1498, they drop anchor in Calicut, India.
The global spice trade was changed forever.
