In the last episode in the series I explore the deserted island of Santa Carolina and its deserted hotel. I also get some snorkelling time and then fly back to Cape Town.

Very nice era, very good hotel it was .and the food was great at the time.
I have so many slides concerning diving and the island at the time.
Santa Carolina was a paradise of nature. But the underwater world is always so outstanding.

The snorkeling was surreal. You had the perfect amount of sun light and all the colorful sea creatures! The abandoned hotel was cool however, it left me anxious thinking about structural integrity and ghosts,lol. Your edits are next level!💚
Hi, I worked on Bazaruto island close to Santa Carolina and we used to ofter go there, fantastic place. When even stayed there when we first arrived in Mozambique and Indigo bay (as it was called then was being redone) we lived there about 10 days and used to commute to Indigo bay every day (about 30 mins by speedboat). We even stayed a weekend when our manager at Indigo bay told to to stay for the weekend which was fantastic! There was one “bar” that was run by the island policeman and had one power point to the bar so he explained, lights or music when it got dark, we stayed in the accommodation to the left of the hotel next to the church, this was back in 2006.
OMG. So glad I came across this!! In the 60’s families or just our parents would fly small planes to PI for long weekends from Rhodesia (we always knew SC as “Paradise Island”). That hotel is where we/they stayed! It was heaven! Such great memories, yet so sad. The hotel and airstrip died along with Rhodesia ❤️😢

If frelimo did drive the country into the ground after independence then that hotel would not have shut down.
