From UDI in 1965 to independence in 1980, Rhodesia fought one of the longest counter-insurgency wars of the Cold War. This film follows the war on the ground: ZANLA and ZIPRA, the first battles at Chinhoyi and Wankie, the turning point after 1972, Nyadzonia and the cross-border raids, Fireforce and the Selous Scouts, the Viscount shootdowns, the internal settlement of 1979 and the election that made Zimbabwe. Every claim is sourced and dated; disputed figures are given as ranges with who says what.
