Latest models continue to indicate a huge storm that will develop over the high plains on Sunday. A very intense 500mb vort max will round the base of the shortwave over western TX by 18z Sunday, as this occurs leeside cyclogenesis over eastern CO will tighten surface pressure gradients to allow modest moisture return into northern KS by 00z Monday. The kinematics are quite strong to near extreme for late February. This environment paired with a sharpening dryline over western TX into western OK will favor initial supercells from Meade KS points south to Plainview TX by 22z Sunday. Rapid height falls and modest instability will only favor rapid upscale growth into a intense fast moving liner QLCS. Now with a strong LLJ of 55-65 kts with speed shear vectors and some evaporative cooling due to the dry air behind, this will favor a widespread significant 75-85+ mph wind damage event therefore SPC has opted to go MDT in the updated day 2 outlook, isolated 2+ inch hail events are possible with initial development.
