The Birth of Africa: A Journey Through Deep Time | SLICE SCIENCE | FULL DOC
Descrição
Before it became the cradle of humankind, Africa was already ancient. This documentary retraces its deep geological past — from cosmic collisions to drifting continents — through the eyes of scientists who decode its story from diamonds, deserts, and fossils. A fascinating journey into the origins of our planet’s oldest continent.

As someone who lived on the ES Craton, another 3B year old land sibling (if not parent) to the Kaapval, from supercontinent Ur. Makes me wonder if Iron is a stronger indication of age than diamond because, this science is still being developed and researchers are still working out the ages.

I've watched this episode 8 months too late and I enjoy enormously watching it as a former geology major (many years ago 😉). Such a great documentary! 👍

Diamond producing "volcanoes" are distinct from all other forms of volcanism. They are basically an express elevator from the mantle with the melt materials being carried up a d erupted at near super sonic speeds thus preserving the diamonds crystalline form.

Have you showed that the plates that was in proximity are of the same type of bedding planes and composition?
