🥵 A HEATWAVE with persistently high temperatures continues to bake central and north-eastern SA.
⛈️ Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible over north-eastern South Africa

⚠️IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS issued by SA Weather Service⚠️
🟡Yellow Level 1: Damaging wind leading to difficulty in navigation at sea, and small vessels at risk of capsizing in locality is expected between Table Bay and Plettenberg Bay from late afternoon.

🔥FIRE DANGER WARNINGS: 🔥
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the north-eastern parts of Western Cape, western and northern parts of Eastern Cape, most parts of Northern Cape, western parts of North West, western parts of Free State and the southern Lowveld of Limpopo.

🥵 ADVISORIES: 🥵
A Heat Wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the northern interior of the Eastern Cape until Thursday (12 December 2024) and over Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State and the northern and north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal until at least Friday (13 December 2024).

🌀Tropical Cyclone Chido🌀
Tropical Cyclone Chido is currently positioned approximately 1072 km north of Mauritius, with wind speeds of around 155 km/hat sea. Forecast models indicate the storm will continue tracking west over the coming days, making landfall as a tropical cyclone over the north-eastern regions of Madagascar by Friday, bringing heavy rain (more than 150mm, strong winds, and rough seas.

The CHIDO is expected to move over the Mozambique Channel and weaken back into a tropical storm before reaching the northern coast of Mozambique by Sunday with heavy rain, rough seas and strong winds. The exact time and location of landfall is still uncertain, but models are currently showing landfall between Pemba and Nacala on Sunday.

⚠ Some weather models are showing the possiblility of CHIDO impacting the north-eastern regions of South Africa, but the forecast is still too far away to say for certain. We will continue to monitor and provide regular updates on Chido.
