Uncovering Africa's Mysterious Lost Rainforest

Africa's Hidden Rainforest: The Mount Lico Mystery

Deep in Mozambique, there’s a mountain that hides a secret world.

Mount Lico looks ordinary from the ground… but from above, it’s one of Africa’s strangest mysteries.
Scientists studying satellite images spotted something impossible: a perfect circular rainforest trapped inside 700-meter vertical cliffs, like a real-life “lost world” on top of a rock. This hidden rainforest stayed untouched for centuries, protected by sheer walls no normal person could climb.

In 2018, an expedition finally reached the top of Mount Lico. Inside the crater, they found a pristine rainforest, species new to science… and eerie clues that humans had been there before. Carefully crafted clay pots, placed upside down near water sources, with no local community claiming them.
Who climbed this unclimbable mountain first?

Why did they leave offerings in such a dangerous, secret place?
