Born in the 70's I started ice fishing the Great Lakes in the 80's. We used to drive our cars on the lakes back in the 80's and 90's. The past 10 years we've barely had enough ice to walk on if at all.

In Peru we are preparing for this maasive el niño. Here the effect is heavy rains in the northern or central coast , we created our unique method descolmatación de rios what is basically removing sediment and big rocks from rivers bed. This will let the heavy downpour and easy way back to the ocean.

In '97, I was living in the Sierra Nevada, and we had more rain than I had ever seen in my 20 years!! It saturated everything (including the red clay) so much that we had a very heavy oak tree fall on our garage, the 100 ft retaining wall came down, and covered the back of the house in three feet of red mud/clay. I will never forget the rain!! We were used to regular winter storms, but it rained for weeks...non stop!! The San Juaquin Valley basically drowned that year. It was nuts!!
