THE NIGHT MOZAMBIQUE BECAME FREE (1975) | The Child Who Woke Up in a Different Country

Mozambique Independence Day (June 25, 1975) changed African history after 477 years of Portuguese colonial rule.

Two heroes never lived to see freedom. One child woke up in a different country. Their stories meet on one unforgettable night.

For 477 years, Mozambique remained under Portuguese colonial rule. Then ordinary people chose an extraordinary path.

This episode follows the remarkable journey from the founding of FRELIMO by Eduardo Mondlane in 1962, through the sacrifice of Josina Machel and thousands of unnamed freedom fighters, to the Carnation Revolution in Portugal and the historic night of June 25, 1975, when Samora Machel became the first President of an independent Mozambique.

More than a story about independence, this is a story about sacrifice, memory, African resistance, and the generations who fought for a future they would never live to see.

If you enjoy African history, forgotten history, colonial history, untold African stories, liberation movements, and powerful historical documentaries, this episode is for you.

Thank God the backwards, unable to achieve anything people were able to free themselves from the oppression of another country's power. But tell me, why is it that what we to this day call third world countries, are not able to care for themselves, innovate, and despite sitting upon resources way larger than even such oil rich country's as Norway, they are still hundreds of years behind compared to what some like to call "civilized" nations....?? I just don't get it. Is it the Leaders of these countries, oppressing the citizens? Is it because they are incapable of developing the technology to extract said resources? Is it because outside nations are forcing them to be subjects and keeping them poor while enriching themselves? And if the latter, wtf don't the People rise up and take contact over their own destiny?? I just find it hard to understand. And somewhat "unfair" to simply blame "The White man" for all and Eve wrong with these resource rich Countries!!?? 🤔🤔
