Descrição

Samora Machel was a revolutionary leader, freedom fighter, and the first President of independent Mozambique. Born in 1933 under Portuguese colonial rule, he trained as a nurse but soon turned to armed resistance, joining and later leading the FRELIMO liberation movement. Under his command, Mozambique gained independence in 1975. Machel was a fierce advocate for African unity, socialism, and anti-colonial liberation across the continent. Tragically, he died in a suspicious plane crash in 1986 near the South African border—an event many believe was orchestrated by the apartheid regime. Today, Machel remains a symbol of courage, resistance, and African self-determination.
