Samora Machel : Revolutionary and Statesman|The President who came to a tragic end
Descrição
Hi there today I am focusing on the story of man considered a true African revolutionary. A man who led a guerilla army for over a decade of continuous war and led the people of Mozambique from the yoke of colonialism to freedom.
To some, Samora Machel was a visionary leader whose talent for guerilla warfare and his choice of revolution was a necessary step in securing the country's independence.
While to others, the idea of using a revolution as a means to capture and consolidate political power has less appeal. Samora Machel, in this sense, is seen as a tool of a dictatorship that eventually resulted in a bloody and destructive civil war in the country.
Join me in this edition of Afro Perspectives as I trace the story Samora Machel, from his humble beginnings in the rural hinterland of southern Mozambique to his rise as President of Mozambique.
