Descrição

Portuguese colonization of Angola began in the 15th century when Portuguese explorers arrived. They established trading posts and forts along the coast to trade for resources like gold and slaves.

Over time, the Portuguese took control of the whole country and made it a colony. They forced the Angolan people to work on plantations and in mines, treated them poorly, and took away their land.

The Portuguese also brought diseases that killed many Angolans. The colonization lasted for over 400 years until Angola gained independence in 1975.
