One of the Strangest UFO Encounters in the Soviet Archives

An invisible barrier.
A stranger who vanishes.
And a question: “Do you want to see girls?”

This week on Stories Lost, we travel west of Moscow to the strange case of Vladimir Bogachev, who claimed that a fishing trip on June 28, 1980, led to an encounter with people he could not always see.

A towering stranger appears in a field. Three girls walk through a picture suspended over the countryside. Then an unseen hand leads Bogachev into a brightly lit room, where unfamiliar men tell him he will remember nothing afterward.

For roughly six months, he said, he didn’t. The memories returned only after he did something the visitors had specifically forbidden.

But that’s only part of the story.

🔹 An invisible obstacle that makes him ill
🔹 A stranger who disappears and returns in green
🔹 Three girls speaking an unknown language
🔹 Nine red stars above a control panel
🔹 A warning, missing memories, and a telephone number

This episode follows Bogachev’s account, recorded by engineer Z. M. Slovesnik in 1981 and included in Felix Zigel’s 1982 collection of Soviet UFO investigations. We also follow the expedition to the site, R. G. Varlamov’s later reports, and Zigel’s own interpretation of the strange image over the field.
