New African tropical cyclone developing - 12pm EAT April 23, 2019

Descrição

Tropical Cyclone 24S is still yet to receive a name by the authorities, but is already starting to become a threat for the eastern African islands of Madagascar, the Seychelles, and the Comoros today. However, the biggest concern is the storm's threat to northern Mozambique and southern Tanzania later this week, with landfall expected on Thursday night or Friday as a significant cyclone.
Some models suggest that rapid intensification will take place soon, bringing the storm's intensity on a par with Cyclone Idai, which devastated central Mozambique and neighboring countries last month. With up to 700mm of rainfall possible by early estimates, this new storm could pose a similar risk to another region of east Africa.
