Mozambique Releases 14 WILD DOGS ONTO AN ANTELOPE PLATEAU – What Happens Next Shocked Scientists

This documentary explores how Mozambique is rebuilding Gorongosa National Park by bringing African wild dogs and other predators back into an ecosystem devastated by war. At the center of the story is an African Wild Dog Reintroduction that began with just 14 animals—and grew into a much larger experiment in restoring the natural balance between predators and prey.
After Gorongosa lost roughly 95% of its large wildlife, recovery began with anti-poaching efforts and Wildlife Reintroduction. But as herbivore populations returned, scientists realized that Rewilding Africa would also require Reintroducing Predators.
The African Wild Dogs soon began hunting across open grasslands, while lions, leopards, and later hyenas created pressure in different habitats. This African Wild Dog Reintroduction became part of a broader effort in Antelope Control, Predator Restoration, and Restoring Ecosystems by rebuilding the natural “landscape of fear.”
The documentary also examines African Conservation, Nature Based Solutions, and Wildlife Conservation, showing how Gorongosa’s ecological recovery is creating new opportunities for nearby communities.
