The one thing for newbies in southern AZ. Is if a plant tag says "Full Sun"dont believe it!it doesn't mean us. Also when you start watering outside let you water run until until it runs cool. One last tip for container gardening, double pot. Place you pot with a plant inside a slightly larger pot.For insulation you can add an extra layer of dirt or anything else to shield the plant roots from the intense heat

I live in a Phoenix suburb. I have tried to start a garden every spring for the last five years. It dies as soon as it gets hot every time. I’m going to try a fall/winter garden this year. 🤞I’m so glad I found your channel.

Im in the high dessert just above Las Vegas. Vine bores, sqash bugs, crickets, and every imaginable type of roach and bettle live here. I treat my garden with beneficial nematodes every couple of years to eliminate these and control thier offspring. It doesnt hurt the good bugs, or any of my pouktry, livestock, cats, or dogs. The native birdes have returned in abundance and ar thriving while controling other pest.

I have yet to find a single gardener that will ever address the real struggle of growing in a high desert that deals with below freezing temps in the winter and 30-40+ mph constant winds in the spring… like 1-2 month long high winds… and short growing seasons… Everyone else is just growing in a tropical paradise compared to me…

My mom is leaving her little ranch on the Cali/Nv border and says I can take it over.. every time I would visit there it would never grow any grass but would grow the flowers and sunflowers my mom would plant. I’m interested in growing my own food and making it look like a paradise in the dessert. Hoping it’s possible.. I don’t wan to look at a bunch of dirt. It snows come November-February in the high desert on the border
