Descrição

As of June 9, 2026, severe and prolonged flooding continues to affect large parts of southern and central Mozambique. The National Institute for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction reports that over 724,000 people have been impacted by these floods, with significant damage to homes, health facilities, and water systems. Currently, more than 100,000 individuals are being hosted in approximately 100 accommodation centers. The United Nations and humanitarian partners are actively working with local authorities to provide lifesaving assistance. The 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan Flood Addendum seeks US$187 million to assist around 600,000 people affected by the floods. To date, over 355,000 individuals have received assistance, primarily through the Food Security and Livelihoods, Shelter, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene clusters.
