⚠️🌀Moderate Tropical Storm Filipo| 12 – 13 March 2024🌀 ⚠️

Moderate Tropical Storm Filipo was situated near Inhassore, Mozambique early Tuesday morning and is tracking south-south-west at 15km/h across Mozambique.

🟡 Maximum winds (averaged over 10 minutes) estimated at sea: 85 km/h.
🟡 Estimated pressure at center: 993 hPa.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND even though the storm will not reach cyclone strength, we are still expecting EXTREMELY HIGH rainfall amounts (MORE 100MM) the next few days over the southern parts of Mozambique, especially the regions between Inhasoro and Imhambane.

The STORM can bring up to 40 mm of rain in the next few days to the extreme eastern parts of South Africa (Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo) with most of the rain expected over the extreme north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal (UP TO 100MM).

Heatwave conditions will persist over parts of South Africa.

ADVISORIES:
- Heatwave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, North West, Free State, central and northern parts of the Eastern Cape until Tuesday (12/03/2024). Also, in places in Gauteng and south-western Bushveld of Limpopo where these conditions are likely to persist into Wednesday (13/03/2024).
- Extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected in places over the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape, the West Coast District and the interior of the Western Cape. These conditions are likely to improve in the west, but persist until Tuesday (13/03/2024) over the eastern interior of the Western Cape.
