Heat From Human Power: small experiments, better questions
Descrição
A short film about one cup, a temperature probe and a big question. I started with simple heating and cooling experiments in Maputo, Mozambique, to understand how heat moves and how materials store it. The cork insulation test showed me how easy it is to change two things at once, and why a measurement is only useful if you trust it. The result was inconclusive, and that became the starting point for the next question: could thermal storage help reduce cooling loads on electric buses? That is a future question, not a proven solution.
Lessons from the project:
• Heat moves from hot to cold, and cooling slows as the temperature difference shrinks.
• Change one variable at a time.
• An inconclusive result still tells you what to test next.
Equipment: a W1209 temperature controller with an NTC probe, a 12 V bench supply, a metal cup, water, soil and wine corks.
Music: AI-generated with Suno, used with permission from the owner, Antonio Simbine.
