Jungle nomads of the Himalayas | SLICE | Full documentary
Descrição
At the foothills of the Himalaya, along the border separating India and Nepal, Raji nomads still hunt for wild honey.
They scale the trees of the great Terai forest, risking their lives to harvest the honey of the apis laboriosa - the largest migratory bee in the world. Both slave and master of the bees, Bahadur defies the towering trees and braves death for the survival of his people.
After discovering written accounts of the Raji's way of life, photographer and filmmaker Eric Valli set out to discover what had become of these nomadic people.

I am from Nepal and thank you for making such a beautiful documentary. And indeed it is sad to see those beautiful forests disappearing to build houses 🥺🥺

These are real people. The men climb bee ropes barefoot into the tree tops. The woman carry their good on their head , barefoot. And they carry their shoes in their hands. These are my people. Respect from USA

Beautiful place. When I was a child in Mexico, I experienced this honey harvesting. Not fun, and extremely difficult, but delicious at the end.🐝🐝🐝❤

Actually in Nepali language MAMA means uncle.....and in most of the Nepali communities if someone is somebody's MAMA then he becomes MAMA for all.....So this person's original name has to be something else.......Nice doc.....love from Darjeeling, India

In almost every documentary, honey has been mentioned to give strength and health! Hope y'all are taking note!

The ability to climb a twisted rope using this method takes amazing strength, not to mention callouses between the toes. Humble and hardworking folks.
