Lion or leopard? Which do we spend our time pursuing? That was the continual question on this safari.
With evidence of a shooter lion in the area, and several promising leopard baits, hopes were high. However, when our team got a report of a man-eating lion from a nearby village, all of our attention shifted towards finding and dispatching this problem lion.
As we investigated, misleading/conflicting stories from the locals made it extremely difficult to identify, let alone find the exact lion that had made the attack. When we were called to a scene where an eland had supposedly been killed by the lion, the clues pointed towards poaching, which futher diminished our faith in the leads we had been given.
Meanwhile, one of our leopard baits was hit by a big Tom, and our team made the call to change gears and target that male leopard while he was still in the area. Ultimately, it was the right call and a beautiful leopard hit the ground!
Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes from this series.

I used to not like the idea of African sport hunting especially the cats but when I began to really understand the broad impact that hunting has I completely changed my mind. It benefits the local economy, it keeps the locals employed, fed, and is an incentive for them not to poach. It also funds conservation. Two cases, the scimitar horned oryx and the dama are perfect examples of hunting actually saving species from extinction.

Why it was not called in the subtitle a lion eating a man instead of video versa confusing title?

The problem is that the rest of the world views Africa’s animals as exotic whereas Africa just views them as animals! Conservation and preservation is key
