Humanitarian Aid Arrives in Toamasina After Tropical Storm Gezan

MetroTV, Hundreds of residents in Toamasina received humanitarian aid on Wednesday after Tropical Storm Gezani caused severe damage in eastern Madagascar. Videos show widespread destruction where entire neighborhoods were destroyed by strong winds and heavy rains. Refugees were seen gathering at Barikadimy Stadium to receive aid. One of the victims expressed gratitude to the government for the assistance provided, although he felt that it was still insufficient, and requested that priority be given to providing shelter. The mayor of Toamasina, Alain Lova, went directly to the field to assess the situation and remind everyone of the importance of leadership at the scene. Tropical Storm Gezani, which hit Madagascar on February 10, affected more than 270,000 people, especially in the Atsinanana region.
