Is Ethanol the future of Indian roads?

India achieved its 20% ethanol blending target by 2025, five years ahead of time, and is now moving towards the new E27 fuel blend, which promises cleaner air and reduced oil imports.

But this success has sparked debates. Many drivers complain about lower mileage, weaker engine performance, and even engine damage after using ethanol-blended petrol.

The government, however, highlights the benefits of biofuel, saying it will cut pollution, lower import bills, and strengthen energy security.

Unlike Brazil, where fuel stations offer pure ethanol, blends, and pure gasoline, India still lacks that choice, and flex-fuel engines are not common.

So, will E27 truly make India a leader in green mobility, or does it need more preparation?
