Cyclone Idai made landfall in Mozambique on 14 March 2019. It brought massive destruction, left nearly 600 people dead and 1600 injured.
Italy has sent an Emergency Medical Team through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to help respond to the crisis.
The EU also provided funds for the Italian Air Force to support the mission.
