Discover The Marine Drive Project That Will Change The Face Of Ghana.
Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has launched the Marine Drive Tourism Investment Project, a 241-acre reconstruction program of Accra’s coastline. The project is generally based on the construction of a promenade. That is, a place where one can take a walk for leisurely pleasure, or for exercise, especially a terrace by the seaside. The project’s requirement, which dates back to the country’s independence 60 years ago, called for a plan to create an iconic skyline for Accra and develop the capital’s city centre into a world-class tourism destination. The Marine Drive will also help to assist the country’s growing cultural and creative sectors. Three civic anchors will be placed along the new public promenade, each commemorating Ghana’s rich past. A new centerpiece public park honoring Ghana’s forefathers will be located at the heart of the promenade. The promenade will run the length of the site, connecting the capital city’s most famous buildings and providing access to the city's beaches. This park will stretch from Independence Square to the shoreline, culminating in a coastal overlook with broad, dramatic views across this area of the Gulf of Guinea.
