An Empty Runway 2000km From Anything? | Kure Atoll
Descrição
A seemingly empty coral ring in the North Pacific, 2000 km from Honolulu. When you zoom in, you find an overgrown abandoned runway and a handful of building skeletons.
This video follows Kure Atoll from the beginning - who found it, the shipwrecks that kept finding it, and the outpost that finally explains the runway.

I've been "island hopping" on Google Maps, there's a lot of abandoned WW2 "bases" all over the Pacific, so I'm really happy to see some earthlore about them

EARTHLORE At about 3:30 you mention Necker. Sir Richard Branson's private island in BVI is also named "Necker Island". Such contrast!

If it is an island in the pacific with strange abandoned airports? Almost assuredly WWII vintage.

Fantastic video as usual. May i perhaps suggest the Belcher islands in the Hudson Bay, Canada for a topic? I've always wondered about those
