6,000 Inmates Flee From Mozambique Prison Amid Post-Election Violence

Over 6,000 prisoners broke out of a high-security prison in Mputo, Mozambique, on Christmas Day during a rebellion. Police reported 33 prisoners were dead and 15 injured in clashes with security forces during the escape. The prison break occurred amid violent protests, which erupted after the country's top court validated the ruling party's October 9 election win.
