After Bhuj disaster ,Hon. Min.Pramod Majan called for a meeting and we had detailed discussion. I told we see for remedies after the disasters. I was in Kodaikanal Observatory and the got signal that a big sunawas likely to hit south sea coast. But in those days the observatory was not supposed to send any communication to any other department. . I suggested a seperate Disaster recovery department. He had agreed..In Tamilnadu Arakonam was selected .Now the Disaster Recovery is functioning very effectively. to meet out Sunami, Earth quake or any other disasters. Met Dept has also been empowered to intimate collector and other officils to co ordinate.
