Xiaomi 18 Pro Max vs iPhone 18 Pro Max — which smartphone takes better portrait photos? In this camera comparison, I'm testing the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max camera against the iPhone 18 Pro Max to compare portrait photography, optical zoom, selfie cameras, skin tones and colour reproduction.

For the first photo, I used optical zoom on both phones to capture a portrait at f/2.2. Then, I teamed up with my good friend Kim Reviews, a fellow content creator, for a selfie camera and portrait mode test.

I'm impressed with how consistent Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is with its colours across these shots. The photos look slightly more saturated, but the overall colour reproduction is pleasing. The iPhone 18 Pro Max, however, disappointed me with its skin tones and struggled to keep Kim properly in focus in the portrait selfie.
