Winter Storm Leaves Nearly 1 Million Without Power, Worst Air Travel Disruption Since Pandemic

Nearly one million homes and businesses were without power Monday after a massive winter storm swept across the United States. The system brought sleet, freezing rain, heavy snow, and dangerous subzero temperatures, particularly impacting the Southeast. Thick layers of ice snapped tree branches and power lines, leaving hundreds of thousands without electricity. The storm also triggered thousands of flight cancellations nationwide, marking the worst air travel disruption since the pandemic. Airlines warn delays could continue through the week as crews work through the backlog. Parts of New England are expected to see up to eighteen inches of snow.
