I just got back from a 2 week safari. This video helped me prepare, thank you! I also recommend packing - Eye drops of you wear contacts, it's so dusty - Binoculars, we only had 1 pair and wished we had more - Presents for local kids like colouring books - Our nice coffee / tea from home. We ummed and ahhed and didn't pack it but it would have been so nice in the morning. But I'm not an instant fan which was what was on offer. - envelopes for tipping drivers I was really grateful for - my fleece, it was cold every morning! - clean nice lodge and bed clothes to change into at night - flip flops - sunscreen and long sleeve sun protection - scarves! I also bought a local one - packing cubes

Small flashlight or head lamp for camp (particularly if electricity goes out at night), Wall socket adapters for local power outlets - your charger and electronics will be bricks if you cannot connect to local power. Closed toe should are much better than flip-flops or open toed sandals when scorpions are around. If you are going on guided night drives (and you should, as nocturnal animals are hard to see during the day!!!) a powerful flashlight that can cast a strong beam for a couple of hundred yards for an hour or two is fantastic! I recently upgraded to a Fenix LR40R - v2.0 and I love that monster! Do your research - there are plenty of similar options from other manufacturers. Don't blind the animals. with a crazy strong spot beam, but a powerful flood beam is ideal.
