I was hoping for this pivot scenario, and it turned out to be more interesting than I had expected! I did suspect that Goering would eliminate Himmler and his SS as soon as possible because Himmler wasn't going to politely stand aside and let his power base get diluted. What I didn't suspect was that Goering would go ahead with invading the Soviet Union, but I have to admit that it sounds like something he would do. His version of the Holocaust is every last bit as tragic. Now I'm wondering if the United States and Japan would still go to war. I think that's still possible.

Goering formed the Gestapo. He is no one's fool. Himmler wouldn't last beyond 1 day.

In your suggested timeline, Churchill would still become First Lord of the Admiralty on Sept 3rd 1939, he was hardly in the wilderness.

The Soviets had taken half of Poland, the three Baltic states, and part of Romania. There is no way Germany could've given up its part of Poland.

Also by being assassinated Hitler's place in history changes with him being viewed as a political genius & laying the foundation for Goring to accomplish this scenario.
