Descrição

Meteorological autumn begins tomorrow and right on cue we see the weather turning warm and dry with a typical spell of early September weather to come. That said there is quite a bit of uncertainty within the forecast for the coming week but expect some changes  at times but overall there should be a lot of warm and dry weather to be enjoyed in the week ahead.

Saturday morning has been mostly dry and sunny. After a chilly start, temperatures are now warming up nicely. This afternoon will keep the mostly dry and warm weather going but southern counties will see an increase in cloud with a few heavy, thundery showers moving into the Channel by this evening. It will be a warm day with temperatures of 15C to 23C.

Overnight, a few scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms will push northwards across England and Wales while Scotland and Northern Ireland stays mostly dry with clear spells and variable cloud. Temperatures will be chilly in the north at 5C to 10C but warm and humid in the south at 14C to 19C.

Sunday will find more heavy showers and thunderstorms pushing northwards across England with some torrential rain in places. Not everywhere will get storms, so some places will miss them and stay dry. Wales, south west England as well as Northern Ireland and Scotland should have a lot of dry and bright weather. Temperatures range from 15C to 25C. Very warm and humid in the south east.

More heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely on Sunday night with showers, storms and downpours gradually moving northeastwards on Monday while a band of more general showery rain pushes into the west. Still very warm and humid in the east of with temperatures of 21C to 26C but cooler in the west at 15C to 20C.

A shallow trough remains over the country on Tuesday. We can expect another day with sunny spells and showers but there will also be drier weather at times too. Temperatures edging back down to 13C to 21C.

Higher pressure starts to take over on Wednesday. Scotland and Northern Ireland should have a mostly dry day with sunny spells but England and Wales will have further showers at times. Temperatures range from 15C to 23C.

High pressure should bring a mainly dry day on Thursday with plenty of sunshine. A few thundery showers are still possible in the south and temperatures remain very warm at 18C to 24C.

Friday continues the high pressure domination with most places once again having a dry day with plenty of sunshine though the extreme remains at risk of more heavy downpours. Very warm again with temperatures of 20C to 27C.

Next weekend has a lot of uncertainty but temperatures probably remain very warm with an increasing risk of thunderstorms in the south.

Summary: Heavy showers and thunderstorms becoming more widespread in the next few days but mostly dry and very warm later in the week.
