TROPICAL CYCLONE KENNETH, CATEGORY 3, TRACKING 15/20KM NORTH OF GRANDE COMORE STILL INTENSIFYING, APPROACHING MOZAMBIQUE...Tropical Cyclone Kenneth is barreling toward the Mozambique coastline just weeks after Idai sent a deadly storm surge into the country and drenched much of the region. Prior to reaching the eastern Africa coastline, Kenneth brought heavy rainfall to parts of Madagascar from Monday into Wednesday. Many areas along the cyclone’s path could see significant rainfall, and there is a high risk of flash and river flooding where heavy rainfall occurs, as well as of storm surge in coastal areas. Winds are likely to be strong enough to cause damage or destruction. INTENSE TROPICAL CYCLONE No. 14 (KENNETH) Maximum winds (averaged over 10 minutes) estimated at sea: 205 km / h. Estimated maximum sea pressure: 285 km / h. Estimated pressure at the center: 940 hPa. Position 25 April at 16 local time: 12.0 South / 40.9 East. Landing should take place at the beginning of the evening at 100/150 km north of the city of pemba. (near INGOANE) Gusts of more than 280 km / h are possible at the level of the impact zone.
