Tropical Cyclone Freddy brought dangerous levels of rainfall to Mozambique on Friday as a prolonged weather system continued to wreak havoc across southern Africa. Freddy made landfall in the coastal city of Vilanculos with winds of 113 kilometers (70 miles) and is now classified as an intense tropical cyclone after picking up speed over the Mozambique Channel. The cyclone is forecast to weaken as it passes through southern Africa, but continues to pose a major heavy rain hazard to neighboring countries Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana.
