The Woman Who Was First Lady of 2 Countries 😳 | Graça Machel #graça #southafrica #mozambique #how

Did you know one woman became the First Lady of two different countries?

Her name was Graça Machel.

She became First Lady of Mozambique after marrying the country's first president, Samora Machel. After his death in a 1986 plane crash, Graça later married Nelson Mandela on 18 July 1998.

Mandela was President of South Africa, making Graça the First Lady of South Africa as well.

She was much more than a president's wife. Graça Machel was also Mozambique's first Minister of Education and became an internationally recognised advocate for women and children's rights.

Guinness World Records recognises her as the first woman to be First Lady of more than one country.
