Cyclone Freddy was the fourth named tropical cyclone of the 2022-23 Australian Cyclone Season, and the second very intense tropical cyclone of the 2022-23 Southwest Indian Ocean Cyclone Season.
Freddy was an extremely unique and rare system breaking many tropical cyclone records. Such as the longest lasting tropical cyclone ever recorded, surpassing the old record set by Hurricane John (1994), the most accumulated cyclone energy for a tropical cyclone, beating Hurricane Ioke (2006), along with having the most separate rounds of rapid intensification of any tropical cyclone.
Freddy also became one of four tropical cyclones to traverse the entire Southwest Indian Ocean, along with the most rainfall ever in Mozambique for a tropical cyclone, along with torrential rainfall and heavy flooding in Malawi.
This track shows the entirety of Freddy’s journey across the Australian and Southwest Indian Oceans, a devastating and catastrophic tropical cyclone that will be remembered for years, perhaps even decades to come.

Guys, it's here. The track animation of probably one of the most infamous cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere. Known for being the longest-lasting system, highest ACE producer, having the most separate rounds of rapid intensification, and unfortunately being a very deadly storm for Mozambique and Malawi. This historic storm will be remembered for quite some time. This animation is going to be spectacular! This animation is 10 min long! Even longer than Ian's 6 min one!

It’s finally here! The longest-lived tropical cyclone ever recorded along with breaking multiple records such as accumulated cyclone energy, the most separate rounds of rapid intensification, along with being one of four tropical cyclones to cross the entire Southwest Indian Ocean along with likely being a once in a lifetime event. Despite these records and its appearance, this system will go down as one of the most catastrophic and deadliest storms in the Southern Hemisphere, with its impacts will likely be remembered for generations. I really hope you all enjoy this animation that was worked on with a lot of detail and care put into this animation. I think this video will be well worth the wait. I think you will all really like the result of this animation.

Freddy was a storm of a lifetime. It feels like three or four storms compacted into one with its incredible duration and very high ACE count, but these are secondary matters compared to the fact it was a destructive disaster, especially for Malawi. In more ways than one, Freddy will be a cyclone that we will be talking about for decades to come.

Can we talk about the fact that the storm somehow bulldozed straight ovrr madagascar and somehow made 60 km into Mozambique and survived and still made it out and stuck around long enough for round 2? That's wild
