The country is currently facing its sixth episode of incessant downpours due to monsoonal runoff caused by the northeast monsoon.
The director-general of the Malaysian Meteorological Department said that while this sixth episode is likely to be the last to bring heavy rain, there is still a possibility that the rains and floods will continue in some areas for up to 60 days!
“Until the monsoon ends, the country still has the potential for a heavy rain episode like what is happening now, which is the sixth stage of this heavy rain episode. “We expect that this may be the last case, but there is still a chance that it will happen, as the rain is expected to end in about a month and a half and there is a danger that the country will be completely submerged!
"During the transition from rain to the southwest monsoon, about 30 days from now, the forecaster also expects continued thunderstorms and showers." The authorities are preparing an appeal to the UN regarding the humanitarian disaster and assistance for the evacuation of the population!
