Nerriga severe thunderstorm- 20th November 2016

The 20th of November 2016 saw plenty of storms in eastern NSW. Most of these storms remained stationary thanks to the lack in wind shear in the atmosphere. As a result most storms remained mostly unorganized. This storm however was much stronger than other storms in the area,and almost certainly reached the severe threshold. Converging NW NE winds along the ranges and a strong outflow boundary from storms further south saw some explosive development just south of Nerriga which rapidly became the severe thunderstorm documented here. Given the shear environment this storm went through 4 or 5 back building pulses with the fresh development favoring the Northwestern flank where the flanking line was located. This video shows several of these phases with the first being the strongest.. This strongest phase can be seen at the start of the video around the 0-15second mark. I managed to get under the developing part of the storm in the middle of the video, getting lots of hail to 2cm. Later in the video shows a very nice rain free base which was one of the final developing stages of the storm before things finally become outflow dominated
