Typhoon Muifa is moving close to Taiwan and the Ryukyu islands today as a Category 3 storm. The system is forecast to intensify some more, to a peak intensity of 140mph, then weaken as it likely passes over the islands of Taketomi and Ishigaki. After that, the system is forecast to weaken further, but remain near or at typhoon status as it nears Shanghai. An important reminder is that even if the center of circulation misses your location, significant impacts may still occur. Stay tuned to your local emergency management for the latest preparedness/evacuation information.
