Mozambique, Life Stronger Than Anything | Deadliest Journeys

Mozambique, Life Stronger Than Anything | Deadliest Journeys

For Bassunga and his men, the road to wood can be strewn with pitfalls. Every day, he takes to the forest in his old truck with his comrades. Without any protection, bare feet and hands, they can cut down twenty trees in a few minutes for a miserable salary. A totally illegal activity in Mozambique but which makes the traffickers happy who then send the wood to China where the needs are immense. For simple travellers, the roads of Mozambique quickly become hell. In front of his minibus, Johnny is desperately waiting for the client. The torrential rains of the night do not encourage him to leave but he has no choice, the truck must be filled otherwise the day will be lost for Johnny. Between the impassable ruts and the traps set by the inhabitants, the 100 kilometers of track will take on the appearance of an odyssey.

At this rate, the trees and the fish will disappear soon enough, the roads will get worse and life will get even much harder. They have fertile lands and the rains seem good, they could do sustainable farming. They need a lot of help, not just financial support, but awareness of other sustainable youth projects and education of the long term effects of their environmental activities. With enough awareness they could make a choice to make a difference because they already have the endurance. If nothing is done, another documentary in 5 years will show an even sadder reality.

The thing is, the video started with false remark! Blaming the civil war on all for those poor peoples life! You dont know , you shouldn't make remarks like that, the reason is the corruption on the part of officials , government, this once a Pearl of Afirica , is now receiving handouts from innumerous charities and more. Its in their DNA, you cant change that!! Its happening in SA! Mozambique in the Portuguese times was a prosperous, reach Country, there was no reason for whats is today!!

I had the opportunity to live and work in Mozambique for 6 years. A really beautiful country and there are some real good people. Unfortunately corruption is the order of the day, you must pay for everything😔bribes is a second nature. 7 hrs travel for 100km.. I once did 17 hrs on only 300km… so yeah that is the reality. And politicians are living the very high life whilst the masses suffer. Africanism right there. Can be seen everywhere, Moz, Zim, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya.

Its amazing nobody has made a 4×4 into a recovery vehicle.
They could make a fortune helping stuck travelers.
Thiugh I suppose there is no cell phone service, how would you know when someone needs you?
You would have to patroll the road or hang out at known mud holes waiting for people to get stuck…. or make mud pits like the villages so and be the solution to the problem you created. 😂

No doubt someone had already worked out the numbers and it isn't worth it, or there would already be someone doing it.
One jacked up Jeep or 4X4 Toyota with a strap, a few shovels and bags of gravel could shave hours off the time it takes others to travel, and time is money.
But then what do you do when you break down?
I have a big Jeep Wrangler built for not getting stuck, and these guys try roads with their big cargo trucks that I wouldnt try with my jeep 😂.
You can have 20 wheel drive, and if none of them grab and just spin in the mud, you aren't going anywhere.

They need to make half-track conversions on the ones with 4 wheels in back somehow.
