Mozambique Island Snorkeling, Episode 179
Descrição
While living in Malawi I needed a seaside escape. So considered what to do on Mozambique Island? Lots! Not just shopping and sightseeing. This is a self-guided trip to an island lost in time. The itinerary includes a touch of history, eating favorites from the sea (and some unsavory items to skip), boating (the old fashion way) and a splash or two in the waters surrounding the paradise island Goa. So dust off the snorkeling gear and then chill at the Cafe Central Hotel.
Located a short distance off the coast of Mozambique in the Indian ocean. It's an undiscovered Zanzibar. It's old world colonial with many restaurants, few tourists, beautiful beaches/islands and even a good shallow wreck.
Mozambique Island is a must for those wishing to see a part of the colonial past before it becomes a tourist mecca like Zanzibar.

This outing starts with a shopping excursion on Mozambique Island.
But seriously, what else is there to do on this island besides shopping and sightseeing you might wonder?
There is history to consider.
The island was once a Portuguese slave-trading center.
Island food is always a good pastime.
But sand slugs are not high on my culinary list.
Octopus is a better option.
Let's see what the local fishermen have.
We've got a boat with engines and a sailing boat. Alright.
We opted on the sailing boat to take us to the nearby island of Goa.
Goa offers a number of self-structured activities besides sunbathing on a paradise island.
We started with beach snorkeling.
A walk across the island takes us to an abandoned lighthouse with an available tour guide.
He pointed out that there is a shallow wreck a near the lighthouse on this side of the island.
So we hoist the anchor and sailed round the island to do some wreck snorkeling.
It was time to return to the mainland and do something more relaxing.
