Mozambique Heli Tour 2026 (2nd day off) – Pangolins, Lions & Dinner Under the Stars
Descrição
During our Mozambique Heli Tour 2026, we flew from the Vilanculos area via Beira towards Gorongosa National Park. With our three helicopters, we landed on the Citengo airstrip, where the friendly team from Gorongosa Safaris welcomed us and took us directly to Chicari Camp, our home for the next three nights.
On our second day off from the helicopter tour, we started early in the morning with a truly unique experience: walking with pangolins. Gorongosa National Park has a dedicated pangolin rescue centre, and during our visit there were two pangolins being cared for by the rangers. They dug a small hole in the ground so the pangolins could feed on ants, giving us an incredible opportunity to observe these fascinating and highly protected animals at close range. 🐾
After this unforgettable encounter, we headed out on a game drive through Gorongosa National Park. We came across two sleeping lion cubs and later a pride of nine lions. The park was full of wildlife, with hundreds of springboks, kudus, nyalas and many other animals appearing along the way. 🦁🦌
After a short picnic under a tree in the savanna, we watched a large flock of vultures feeding on a carcass – another impressive reminder of how active and wild the ecosystem of Gorongosa is. 🦅
In the afternoon, we set off again, this time keeping our eyes open for African wild dogs. But the highlight of the evening – apart from our two amazing pangolin encounters – was something completely different.
The team from Gorongosa Safaris had organized a dinner in the middle of the wilderness, around a large fire under the incredible starry sky of Mozambique. Sitting together with family and friends, surrounded by the sounds of the African bush, was an unforgettable way to finish another extraordinary day. 🔥✨🌌
Another fantastic day of adventure, wildlife and special moments that we were lucky enough to experience together during our Mozambique Helicopter Tour 2026.
A huge THANK YOU to 360 Aviation for organizing this wonderful helicopter adventure through Mozambique.
