In April 1995, Margaret Dongo — ex-guerrilla, ex-intelligence officer, sitting former MP — lost her Harare South seat to ZANU-PF's Vivian Mwashita by 1,097 votes. She said the voters' roll was rotten. Then she proved it: in August–September 1995 the High Court of Zimbabwe nullified the election, the first time in the country's history that an election result was overturned in court. In November 1995 she won the re-run and entered parliament as Zimbabwe's first true independent MP.

This Upright Films documentary tells her whole story: the girl who walked out of Rhodesia to fight at fifteen, the ZANLA medic 'Tichaona Muhondo', the Central Committee member asked to serve the tea, the break with ZANU-PF, the landmark court case, the 'barking dog' years, the ZUD party, the arson attack on her home, and her testimony in 2022 on what was done to women in the camps of the liberation war.
