Maputo, Mozambique - AICCRA in the news: Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on enhancing forecasting capacities and developing crop capability prediction models and tools Despite rapid scientific and technological progress in climate information services (CIS), small-scale farmers often do not use much of the available weather and agrometeorological information, which results in poor productivity. There is a need to upskill producers and users of CIS by training trainers to help users understand and use available tools and data, including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)'s crop yield prediction model tool. AICCRA, together with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) will hold training sessions for professionals from National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS), Agriculture, and Academia. The first of the Training of Trainers workshop took place in Maputo, Mozambique, 25-28 April 2023. As a continuation of the previous efforts, the Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA), in partnership with UNECA-ACPC, aims to establish a cohort of CIS practitioners and users to help communities improve their efficiencies in agricultural production systems.
