I Turned 54 African Flags Into Sound (Crazy)
Descrição
Every flag in Africa, quietest to loudest. Each flag is traced, and the pen's height becomes the pitch. The shape is the sound.
Africa's flags share the same few colours, and the pen can't see colour at all. So five flags that look nothing alike land on exactly the same note, Malawi's 46-piece sunrise sounds the same as South Africa's 7 pieces, and the flag that takes the most pieces to draw still isn't the loudest.
0:00 The quietest flag
0:32 Five flags, one note
1:15 Togo, Benin, Madagascar
1:37 Morocco
2:14 Uganda
2:42 Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Chad
3:54 Egypt
4:00 Malawi vs South Africa
4:24 Mozambique
4:36 Zimbabwe
5:01 Kenya
5:14 Eswatini
5:26 The loudest flag in Africa
All 54 UN member states in Africa are here. Western Sahara and Somaliland are not, because we only include UN members (the same rule as the Europe, Americas and Asia videos).
"Loudness" is pitch travel in semitones per second, measured from the geometry before a frame is drawn. It is not a decibel reading. Flags are traced from the public-domain artwork on Wikimedia Commons, and every sound is synthesised from the pen's height. Nothing is sampled.
Volume 4 of every flag on Earth, after Europe, the Americas and Asia.
