This is probably one of the largest storms you will ever see. Cold front + hurricane + upper low that threw this thing inland very fast. Western NC most damaging storm ever.
You couldn't have designed a more diabolical atmosphere for the NC mountains on purpose. I was stupefied by the aftermath. I *still* have trouble wrapping my mind around it.
It rained more before the storm made landfall then it did after. I drove the dragon to Cherokee and then the Pigeon River Gorge back looking like waterfalls running down the mountain on Thursday. I was thinking "man Im glad I live in the mountains so I am not underwater right now" Most of the dams were topped by Sunday....
