Displaced Again in Mozambique: “We are fleeing all the time"

Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique has been the target of violent attacks from non-state armed groups since 2017. Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes; most have been displaced multiple times, starting to rebuild their lives only to be driven away again by violence. The crisis appears to be far from over—a surge of attacks in January displaced thousands more people. Hundreds of houses were burned to the ground, crops were stolen, and the total number of people killed is still unknown. "I don't know when they'll stop chasing us," said Samuel, a displaced person in Cabo Delgado. "We're crying to be able to return home."
