Did We Just See The END of WINTER?
Descrição
With the exception of northern California, a quiet day is shaping up for much of the United States today, as the blizzard heads off to the Northeast. Areas in northern California will continue to see a flooding threat throughout the day, as heavy rain continues to fall across the area and also into southwest Oregon. The northern Rockies into the southern Plains will see strong winds yet again, with frequent gusts into the 50s and 60s. Fire weather concerns will continue to persist across areas of the southern Plains. Florida will see one more night with frost advisories before warming up. And a new clipper system will move out of Canada and bring more snow to the Great Lakes and Northeast by midweek. Beyond this week, zonal flow looks to dominate for a while, but cold air lurking just across the border in Canada has some mischief up its sleeve, and we'll likely have to contend with that before all is said and done. I cover all of that and more in today's video.

Really exciting end to winter in the making? With all the snow pack in Canada, ice on the great lakes and cold water off the Chesapeake Bay I think the cold will not burn out so easily. This winter has felt more like the ones I remember as a kid. I grew up on Gwynn's Island on the Chesapeake bay and the rain snow line would often set up right on the coast. What got me into weather was wondering why the kids across the bridge were playing in the snow while i was stuck in the rain. I learned about the marine layer and the influence of the bay temp on our precip type. Once the bay temp got to 38 and below we were in the game and could get some big ones! Would love to see a late March surprise for the southern Apps. It seems at least possible this year. Have an awesome day. Great video as always. You are a workhorse!

Hey there Jason. I didn’t measure but I know we got between 2-3 ft where I am in MA and was very windy, not as windy as SE MA and the Cape. They got hit HARD and a good majority lost power and had coastal flooding … wasn’t pretty and i feel grateful for not living there. Ty for all you do!
