According to the latest bulletin published by the Mauritius Meteorological Services, the eye of the intense cyclone JOANINHA (22S) was 80km north-east of Rodrigues at 7am.( 18.9 South / 63.7 East.) It will pass to its nearest point of the island in the morning hours. the gusts currently felt on the island are of the order up to180km / h.
JOANINHA should remain an intense tropical cyclone throughout its transit closer to Rodrigues despite the increase in shear observed since yesterday. The excellent altitude divergence makes it possible to counter the harmful effects of this altitude constraint at first.The island has been under heavy gusts since last night and should continue today.Estimated maximum sea pressure: 250 km / h.
